Mid Wilts Retain Yehlex Trophy JUST!!!!  Date  Monday March 18th 2019  Assocation  Mid Wilts On Sunday 17th March 2019 the Wiltshire County Badminton Association held their annual inter district junior tournament at Tidworth Leisure Centre. The 3 associations, Mid Wilts, Salisbury and District, and Swindon and District field teams of 8 boys and 8 girls each playing 1 singles, 2 doubles and 1 mixed doubles against the opposing associations. In a day of excellent badminton the result went down to the last few games in the mixed doubles. After all the singles and doubles Mid Wilts were drawing 16-16 with Salisbury and were leading Swindon 19-13. Mid Wilts then drew the 8 mixed matches with Salisbury 4-4 followed by Salisbury beating Swindon 24-16 overall which meant Mid Wilts had to win 5-3 to tie and 6-2 to win against Swindon to win the trophy outright. After many nail-biting minutes Mid Wilts defeated Swindon 5-3 in the mixed doubles and 24-16 overall to tie the match. The referee then had to calculate back on points between Salisbury and Mid Wilts and Mid Wilts narrowly won by 46 points.
